Phoenix 200 is a polyamide membrane rejection enhancer. This formulation restores rejection to membranes that have been oxidized, subjected to overly aggressive cleaning, or are simply old. In general, the application of Phoenix 200 reduces salt passage by half.

The beneficial effects of this treatment are immediate and will last until the next RO clean.

Performance:

Phoenix 200 offers a number of performance properties that make it the product of choice for resizing polyamide membranes:

• Effective with all polyamide membrane types.
• Can reduce salt passage by half.
• Improved rejection lasts until the next membrane clean.
• Best results are obtained at normal operating pressures using 300 ppm for 20 min.
• Extremely cost effective. Application of this product can prolong the useful life of membranes that may otherwise have been discarded.
• May be applied while the RO system is in operation.
• Procedure is quick and the entire treatment typically takes approximately 20 minutes.

Instructions for Use:

The typical treatment mode is to inject Phoenix 200 into the RO feedstream while the system is in operation. Best results are obtained under normal operating pressures when the product is applied to clean membranes. To ensure clean membrane surfaces, thoroughly clean the RO system prior to applying the Phoenix 200. After the system is cleaned, return the unit to service and add the Phoenix 200 to the feedstream using a chemical feed pump.

Continue to add the product until the permeate conductivity reaches a minimum value. This typically takes about 20 minutes.

While the Phoenix 200 is on-line and for 20 minutes after, the plant operator may wish to divert the permeate flow to drain.

In general, system salt rejection must be at least 85% or better for this treatment to be effective.
